  1. Endless Scroll Endless Stroll (May, 2021)
  2. This piece is about my relationship to the endless scroll. I spend a lot of my spare time jumping from one stream of online consciousness to another, scrolling endlessly each time. Meditation and spending more time outdoors has been one way I’ve tried to bring more intention and conscious usage to my online habits but by design this ability to scroll forever is a maladaptive coping mechanism that’s almost impossible to truly escape due to its widespread presence. All I can do is make peace with this, represented through the chants of Om Shanti. Through this act of scrolling I keep hoping to find something that will make me stop but anything that takes more than a few seconds to process just makes me want to scroll more. Through my art I show the position of a silent observer, watching our digital media landscape unfold and morph through time. The tree footage was taken from a public domain experimental video made in 1970 that I wouldn’t have found had I not been endlessly scrolling through Youtube. A lot of my work involves taking and using free things I find online (e.g. images, effects processors etc.) and combining these separate elements in a meaningful way. Collage tends to always be the end result one way or another, maybe representing a deeper desire for connection to the world around me. I acknowledge that nothing I make or produce is done so in a vacuum and try to embrace the influences around me as much as possible through the medium of collage.

  3. Dream Approximation 01 (January, 2022)
  4. A video piece where I attempt to simulate a dream by editing together random clips of public domain footage, connecting to how when we dream our minds edit and collage random memories into an hours long visual and emotional experience. I use the concept of the sous- rature (the big red cross over everything) used by Heidegger and Derrida over this sequence to convey that it is my approximation of what a dream looks like, it is inaccurate therefore crossed out but the video remains visible out of necessity.
